Lucy A. (nee Foiani) Lutz-Hahn, 93, of Clifton, passed away, August 18, 2021. Luciana came to the United States from San Remo, Italy as the young bride of John R. Lutz, Jr. They settled in Clifton, NJ where she became known as Lucy, the much loved daughter-in-law and sister-in-law to John’s seven siblings. Lucy and “Jack” had four children, the first of which died in infancy (Luciana Carolina). Together they raised their beautiful family which in time grew to include five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Sadly, Jack passed away in 1976.
Lucy was a magician in her garden. She needed only to look at a plant for it to flourish and bear fruit or flowers. She was a genius in the kitchen, and to many she was the best cook in the world. Her raviolis and eggplant parmigiana are legendary, and her “I love garlic” bumper sticker probably caused many driving behind her to chuckle.
She loved traveling and with her second husband, Tom Hahn, traversed the U.S. many times. They also visited friends and family in her beloved home town of San Remo, Italy.
Lucy was a devoted and loving mother and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. She had a heart of gold and her generosity endeared her to everyone she met. May God bless her and keep her.
Survivors include: three children, Miriam (Mimi) Halkowich and her husband, Richard, John E. Lutz and his wife, Mary Jo and Cristina (Tina) Svec; five grandchildren, Lynda Lalevee, Mimi Murphy, Jackie Lutz, Christopher Svec and Andrew Svec; and ten great-grandchildren. Lucy was predeceased by her two brothers, Ermano and Gino Foiani.
