Margaret R. McCarthy, affectionately known as Maggie, passed away on May 1, 2026, in Paramus, New Jersey, at the age of 66. She was born on January 15, 1960, in Englewood, New Jersey, and lived a life marked by love, devotion, humor, and wisdom. She will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew her.
Born in Englewood, Maggie was raised in Dumont, New Jersey, where she built the foundation of the caring and spirited woman she became. She was a graduate of Dumont High School in Dumont, New Jersey, and carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life. She later made her home in Clifton for more than 20 years, where she became a familiar and cherished presence in her community.
Maggie was employed as an Office Assistant in the Academic Affairs Department at Bergen County Community College, Meadowlands Campus, in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. She took pride in her work and was known for her reliability, kindness, and warm sense of humor. Her colleagues and those she served appreciated her steady presence and the thoughtful way she carried out her responsibilities.
Faith was an important part of Maggie’s life, and she was a devoted parishioner of St. Brendan R.C. Church in Clifton. She was also a proud member of the New Jersey Education Association and a supporter of the Alpha-1 Foundation. These affiliations reflected her commitment to community, service, and causes that mattered to her.
Maggie is survived by her husband, David A. Dolack, Sr.; her daughter, Tara Hoffman, and her husband, Eric, along with their children, Casey and Margot; and her son, David A. Dolack, Jr., and his wife, Alyssa. She is also survived by her sisters, Patty Manoy and her husband, Tom; Deborah Cappola and her husband, Renato; and Cathy McCarthy. She leaves behind her nephew, Joseph Manoy, and his wife Jessica, along with their daughter, Charleigh, who was Maggie’s goddaughter. She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Joan (nee Sell) McCarthy, and her father, Joseph McCarthy. She was also predeceased by her nephews, T.J. Manoy, Richie Fernandez, and her niece, Patty Ann Fernandez.
Maggie’s family was the center of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence brought comfort and joy to others. Her love for her family was evident in the way she listened, encouraged, and shared in both the ordinary and special moments of life.
Those who knew Maggie will remember her as loving, funny, and wise. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for, and her laughter could brighten any room. Her strength, compassion, and good humor left a lasting impression on her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and in the many lives she touched throughout her years. Though she will be deeply missed, Maggie’s legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who loved her.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 10:45 from the funeral home followed by an 11:30 am Mass at St. Brendan R.C. Church, 154 East 1st Street, Clifton. Cremation will be private.
