Maria Corazon L. (Leyba) Nubla

Maria Corazon L. Nubla, 66, of Clifton, passed away April 17, 2022. Born in Quezon City, Philippines, Cora came to the United States in 1984 and settled in Jersey City, New Jersey. She resided in Nutley for 13 years before moving to Clifton. 

As a devout Catholic, she had a strong faith in God and prayed the Rosary daily. With Cora’s love of cooking and joy for spending time with family and friends, the door to her home was always open. Her smile was also biggest when she was surrounded by her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Teofila (nee Munoz) Leyba; and three siblings, Maria Theresa Santos, Manuel Leyba, and Alfonso Leyba.

Cora is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Gilbert Nubla, and four devoted children: Anna Santos and her husband Stefan, Gale McCartney and her husband Damian, Christopher Nubla and his wife, Cristina, and Mary C. Nubla. She deeply loved her four grandchildren: Sean Santos, Nicholas Nubla, John McCartney, and Alaina Santos. She is also survived by four siblings: Antonette Robles, Antonio Leyba, Jr., Maria Divina Leyba, and Maria Concepcion Terrado. 

Visitation will be held Friday, April 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Clare Church, 69 Allwood Road, Clifton, on Saturday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
