Marie Thomas Obituary

Marie Ange Thomas, whose warmth, generosity, and love brought people together, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Paterson, N.J. She was 68.

Born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Ms. Thomas immigrated to the United States in 1976, first settling in Queens, N.Y., before making homes in North Bergen and West New York, and eventually planting roots in Paterson. She was a longtime employee of IQVIA in Parsippany, where she worked for over 36 years as a File Data Specialist.

A devoted mother, Ms. Thomas raised her two sons, Jacques and James, as a single parent, filling their childhoods with warmth, joy, and unwavering love. They never knew the absence of a mother’s care—only the deep embrace of her devotion. She extended that same boundless affection to her four grandchildren, who adored her.

Her love language was food. An exceptional cook, Ms. Thomas found joy in gathering people around a table, whether for a holiday feast, a casual meal, or a potluck at work. Cooking was her way of expressing love, of nurturing those around her. She was never happier than when her home was full of laughter, conversation, and the aroma of a meal prepared with care.

Though raised Catholic, she did not practice later in life, though she sent her sons to Catholic school. More than doctrine, she believed in kindness, in showing up for people. To know Ms. Thomas was to have a steadfast friend—someone who would listen without judgment, offer advice when needed, and, when words failed, comfort with a home-cooked meal. She had an easy, radiant joy, a quick wit, and an infectious laugh that made others feel at ease.

She is survived by her two sons, Jacques Dupoux and his wife, Conchita Campos, of New York, N.Y.; James Dupoux and his wife, Carolina Molina, of Totowa, N.J.; and her four cherished grandchildren, Cynthia Molina, Kayla Dupoux, Brianna Dupoux, and Simone Dupoux. She is also survived by her dear companion, Widner Richard, of Paterson.

Her love was a gift to those fortunate enough to know her, and her spirit lives on in the hearts she touched. She understood that life’s hardships could be endured with perseverance and that the greatest joys often come from the smallest moments—time spent with family, meals shared in good company, and the quiet comfort of knowing you are loved.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering in her honor on Saturday, February 8th from 1:00 PM to 4:00PM at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave, Clifton, NJ 07013, where they may gather to share memories and offer condolences.
