Marilyn Rowan Obituary

Marilyn H. Rowan (nee Herdin), a beacon of love and friendship, passed away on February 18, 2025, at the age of 76, in Paramus, NJ. Born on February 10, 1949, in Paterson, NJ lifelong resident of Clifton, Marilyn's life was a testament to her enduring kindness and her deep commitment to her community.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael J. Rowan, her father Kenneth Herdin, her mother Claire (nee McEnroe) Herdin, and her brother Robert Herdin. Marilyn's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving nephews, Mark Herdin and his wife, Jenifer, Kevin Herdin and his wife, Andrea; and her great-nephews and great-niece, Robert, Matthew, Michael, and Natalie, cousins and many friends.

An advocate for individuals with disabilities, Marilyn devoted her time and expertise to the Clifton Advisory Committee for Individuals with Disabilities. Her work with this group underscored her dedication to ensuring that everyone had the support and resources needed to lead fulfilling lives. She was also an active member of the Boca Area Post Polio Group, where she provided support and shared experiences with others affected by the disease.

Marilyn's loving nature extended beyond her immediate circle to touch the lives of countless individuals through her work with Project Linus. She crocheted blankets with care, providing comfort and warmth to those in need. This thoughtful gesture was one of the many ways Marilyn expressed her compassionate spirit and her desire to bring joy to others.
 

 Her warm smile and generous heart will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

As we bid farewell to Marilyn H. Rowan, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. Her legacy of love, kindness, and community service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her extraordinary spirit. Marilyn's departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, but the memories of her unwavering friendship and her compassionate deeds will endure forever.

We honor her life by remembering the joy she brought into our world and the gentle way she improved the lives of everyone she met. Marilyn H. Rowan will be fondly remembered and eternally appreciated. Rest in peace, dear Marilyn. Your legacy of love lives on.
