Marlene Chidiac Obituary

Chidiac - Marlene Ruth (nee Neubert), 67, of Clifton passed away peacefully on August 29, 2022. Born in Passaic, Marlene was raised in Lincoln Park where she resided until moving to Clifton when she got married. Marlene graduated in 1977 from William Paterson University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She began her teaching career at Caldwell University as a head teacher in the nursery school and then continued on to St. Philip Preparatory School in Clifton where she was a teacher for 40 years. Marlene loved and cared for her students and their families. In school, she helped with Secret Santa, Kindness Angels, and Crafty Kids Club. She enjoyed every minute of her teaching career and never wanted to retire. St. Philip’s truly was her family and second home.

Marlene was the heart and soul of her family. She did everything for and with them.

Her passions included gardening, coloring, reading, knitting, baking, praying for and helping everyone. She enjoyed Relay for Life, Vacation Bible School, The Community Garden, and working at the Rosary Society’s Plant and Flower Sale at the St. Philip Carnival.

Marlene loved the color yellow, cows, and visiting Little Free Libraries. She enjoyed Hallmark and Lifetime shows and movies, especially the Christmas ones. She loved HGTV, QVC and crime shows.

Marlene was the sunshine that lit up every room she walked into and gave a helping hand and a shoulder to cry on to anyone who needed it. She was a kind, loving, faith-filled, and gentle soul who touched the life of everyone she met. She is a role model and inspiration. No words can express the tremendous impact she had on everyone and what a tremendous loss it is.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gerhardt and Dorothy A. (nee Klee) Neubert. Her survivors include her beloved husband, Joseph Chidiac and loving daughter, Catherine Chidiac, both of Clifton, her sister, Sandra Ploger and her husband Russell Ploger, her nephew Jason Ploger and his fiancee Lisa Di Bella, and her niece Rachel Ferriola and her husband Arthur, all of Oak Ridge.
