Mary Paternoster

Mary (nee Calaminici) Paternoster, 89, of Woodland Park, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Born and raised in Newark, Mrs. Paternoster resided in Bloomfield for many years.  For the last 14 years, she had been residing in the Four Seasons retirement community in Woodland Park.

            Before her retirement, Mrs. Paternoster was employed as an Administrative Assistant with UFCW Local #464 in Little Falls. She was a longtime, devoted parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield. Mary was a tireless caretaker and devoted wife and mother; family meant everything to her. She also shared a love of animals with her daughters and grandchildren.

            She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerard R. Paternoster on June 23, 2020; and one sister, Lucretia Calaminici.

            Survivors include: two daughters, Elaine Del Colle and her husband, Gerard and Debra Ryan and her husband, Jay; five grandchildren, Taylor, Montana, Shannon, Conor and Melanie and five siblings, Rose Gorman, Steven Calaminici, Katherine Calaminici, Joseph Calaminici and Leanore Gregorio.

            A Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Lucy R.C. Church, 118 7th Ave. in Newark. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, No. Arlington. Facemasks must be worn and social distancing will apply.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Sacred Heart Church, 78 Broad St., Bloomfield, NJ 07003.
