Mary E. (nee Meyerhoffer) Wojtovitz, 76, of Clifton passed away on Friday January 12, 2024 with family by her bedside.
Born in Bamberg, Germany, Mrs. Wojtovitz lived there until age five when she and her mother then came to the United States, settling in Passaic and living there for most of her life until moving to Clifton in 2008. Before retiring, she had been employed as a Psych Tech with St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic and prior to that, had helped run her mother’s restaurant, The Cozy Corner, in Passaic Park for many years. She had attended masses at St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church in Clifton.
Mrs. Wojtovitz was predeceased by her loved and dearly missed mother, Gertrude (nee Burkhart) O’Connor and by her dear daughter-in-law, Deborah Contorno.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Richard Wojtovitz, of Clifton; her three devoted children: Anthony J. Contorno of Lodi, Melanie Contorno-Herrera and her husband, Pat, of Rockaway and Malissa Contorno-Bischoff and her husband, John, of Little Ferry; and by her six cherished grandchildren to whom she was their beloved “Mema”: Patrick Herrera and his fiancé Taylor Jones, Zoe Contorno, Haley Herrera, Samantha Bischoff, Ryan Herrera and Daniela Bischoff. She is also survived by her first husband and friend, Anthony Contorno, Sr. as well as by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting will be Tuesday from 4-8pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral Wednesday 9:15am from the funeral home and 10:00am at St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church, 400 Mt. Prospect Avenue, Clifton. Entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Paterson.
