Mary Ann Miksits Obituary

Mary Ann Miksits, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Thursday December 19, 2024. She is predeceased by her husband Donald of 39 years.   She is survived by her loving sons, John, Steve and wife Barbara, Dave and wife Marivic, and daughter Audrey and husband Daniel.  And by her four cherished grandchildren: Amanda, Kristen, Rachel, and Joshua.   Mary Ann is also survived by one brother, Laawrence Brincka and his wife, Madeline and a brother-in-law, Jairo Leon.  She was predeceased by her parents, Mary (nee Figel) and Joseph Brincka; and two sisters, Bernadette Leon and Cassandra Brincka.

Mary Ann met her husband while working as a telephone operator at the Bell Telephone Company.  They married and moved so he could serve in the US Army.  They briefly lived in California before moving back to NJ.

She stayed home many years to raise her children in Clifton NJ.  The family traveled the USA and visited Canada several times.

Her work career also included working for Robert Hall Clothing.  She attended art school in Newark, NJ, and so enjoyed oil painting.  She worked for RCA records, but had a lengthy career of 25+ years as a Montclair State College Financial Aid office clerk assisting students with loan applications.    Mary Ann also obtained a four-year degree in Business Administration from Montclair State College.   She also penned several poems about gardening.  She also practiced guitar when her children were also playing instruments.

Mary Ann regularly attended Sunday Mass at St. Paul’s RC Church in Clifton.   She was a member of the Leisure Club at St. Paul’s and traveled with them a few times.     She was a Eucharistic Minister and visited the sick.

Mary Ann volunteered as the Recording Secretary for the Dutch Hill Residents Association, Inc.  She was a longtime member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals.  She became an officer to the Garden Club of Clifton, and always had a vegetable garden at home.  She assisted a neighbor with patterning his development.

She lately enjoyed watching podcasts: The Jen Fulwiler Show, and On the Journey with Matt, Ken and Kenny.  She loved listening to The Hillbilly Thomists, and attended community band concerts in the area.
