On November 28, 2020 the world lost a truly compassionate and loving woman. Mary Ann Tausendfreund, 84, of Pine Brook, passed away. She was born and raised in Wallington, New Jersey. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Robert A.F. Tausendfreund in 1956, and having two children, Debra and Robert M., they moved their young family into a brand new home in Pine Brook in 1960. Mary Ann studied nursing which resulted in a life-long interest in health and medicine. After raising her family, she was employed as a bookkeeper for many years by Kramer Brothers.
As a parishioner of Most Holy Name of Jesus Slovak National Catholic Cathedral in Passaic, she served as a Trustee and Secretary to the Board. She was very active in most of the church activities.
Mrs. Tausendfreund was predeceased by Robert, her beloved husband of 62 years, and her parents, whom she adored, Michael and Mary (nee Kuczko) Canda.
Survivors include: two devoted children, Debra Tausendfreund and her husband, John Petrizzo and Robert M. Tausendfreund and his wife, Theresa; four loving grandchildren, Michael Petrizzo, Jennifer Begley and her husband, Daniel, Lisa Herman and her husband Joshua, and Robert C. Tausendfreund and his wife, Nicole; and two dear great-granddaughters, Evelyn Begley and April Tausendfreund.
Mary Ann enjoyed life with family and friends. She hosted many lively gatherings through the years. Everyone would have such a good time they would come back the next day! Christmas time, with all its traditions, was always special to her and the joy of the season was passed on to her children and grandchildren.
She loved gardening, sewing, crafts, and cookbooks. She was known for her deep love of animals large and small, and adopted many cats and dogs, rabbits, birds, and fish. She lived her values of kindness and generosity and always had a smile to share with anyone she encountered.
Most of all, she loved her husband. They always walked hand-in-hand and were often seen sharing a laugh about something silly. She was “Gracie” to his George Burns. Their life was filled with love and laughter.
