Michael J. “Gramps” Paveglio, 97, of Clifton, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025. Born in Meduno, Italy, Michael came to the United States through Ellis Island and settled in New York City. He joined the United States Navy and served honorably from 1946 to 1948. Michael has resided in Clifton since 1953. Before his retirement, he was employed as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service in Clifton. Up until recently, he served as the treasurer of the Clifton Federal Postal Credit Union. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling with the other retirees from the post office.
Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anna (nee Gelok) Paveglio in 1987; his son, Thomas Gelok and Tom’s wife, Marsha Gelok; one brother, Nello Paveglio; and one sister, Stella Paveglio.
Survivors include: his granddaughter, Rachel (nee Gelok) Motyl and her husband, Timothy; his grandson, Timothy Gelok and his wife, Leah; three great-grandchildren, Abigail and Samantha Motyl and Travis Gelok; and two sisters, Louise Taranto and Mary Calangelo.
Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon followed by the interment at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Clifton.
