Sylvia Rist

Sylvia (nee Vendetti) Rist, 98, of Wayne, formerly of Clifton, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2020.

            Born and raised in Kearny, Mrs. Rist had lived in Clifton from 1950 until 1988 when she and her late husband, Walter, retired and moved to Arizona. She returned to New Jersey upon his passing in 2002 and has lived in Wayne since. Prior to her retirement in 1988, Mrs. Rist had been employed as an Executive Secretary with Wallace and Tiernan, formerly located on Broad Street in Clifton. She was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church in Clifton.

            Mrs. Rist was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter Rist, on April 16, 2002; by her two dear brothers, Vincent and Andrew Vendetti; and by her loved son-in-law, Ken Tahan, on November 7, 2019.

            She is survived by her devoted daughter, Sharon Rist, of Wayne and by her three loving grandchildren: Matthew Tahan of Montclair, Elizabeth Tahan of Wayne and Kristen Tahan of Philadelphia, PA.

            Due to current restrictions, services for Mrs. Rist will be private however please join us for a live stream of her visitation on Thursday from 12:30pm-1:00pm by clicking HERE. Interment to take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
