Nelson Arteaga, 89, of Totowa passed away on December 30, 2021. Born in Colombia, he came to the United States in 1959 settling in Clifton, before moving to Totowa seventeen years ago.
While living in Colombia, he was in the Colombian Navy which was something he was very proud of and often spoke about.
Nelson was a realtor for over thirty years working for several realty agencies in the area. He loved history and politics.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leopold and Rosa Tulia (nee Devia) Arteaga; and by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Marina (nee Rodriguez) Arteaga; four daughters, Norma C. Arteaga-Pezo and her husband, Enrique Pezo, Elva Rocio Arteaga-Garavito and her husband, Fernando Garavito, Isabel V. Rojas and her husband, Orlando Rojas and Carolyn Marino and her partner, Vincent Celauro; three brothers, George Arteaga, Henry Arteaga and Joseph Arteaga; and seven grandchildren, Catherine E. Pezo, Phillip M. Pezo, Andrew Garavito, Julian Garavito, Jeffrey B. Rojas, Jonathan M. Rojas and Melissa Marino.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral service at 5:00 pm. Private cremation.
