Nereida Vargas-de-Reyes

Nereida Vargas-de-Reyes, 83, of Paterson, passed away January 9, 2024. Born and raised in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, Nereida came to mainland United States 65 years ago and settled in Passaic. She moved back to Puerto Rico in 1982. She resided there until 2001 when she moved to Florida and then more recently relocated to Paterson.

Nereida was a member of Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal – Lehigh #2 in Lehigh Acres, Florida. She had been a talented seamstress before her retirement.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ismael Reyes in 2010. She was the sibling of Ruben Vargas, Felix Vargas and Margarita Vargas.

Survivors include: her children, Carlos Reyes (Carmen Silva), Hector Reyes (Teresa Reyes), Ismael Reyes (Margarita S.) and Nereida Reyes; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and another expected in May.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 9:30 at from the funeral home followed by the interment at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
