Nicholas Gorab Obituary

Nicholas Gorab, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of the community, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at the age of 96, in Wayne, New Jersey. Born on July 31, 1929, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Sadick and Alice Gorab, Nicholas lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community.

Nicholas, affectionately known as Nick, was the beloved husband of Somaya (nee Fadil) Gorab for an impressive 72 years. Together, they built a family legacy that includes their sons, Dr. Glenn Nicholas Gorab and his wife Dr. Betty Keller, and Gordon S. Gorab and his wife, Kathleen. Although he was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Ann Gorab, his memory lives on through his grandchildren, Lauren Gorab and her husband Jamie Shafer, Nicholas Gorab, Matthew Gorab, Gordon N. Gorab, Tracy Gorab, Sydney J. Butler, and Brooke L. Butler. Nicholas was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Gorab.

After a successful 40+ year career as Sales Manager with Nassor Electric Supply Co., Inc in Hackensack, NJ, Nicholas retired and continued to be an active member of his community. He was a faithful member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Little Falls, where he was deeply involved in church functions. Nicholas's commitment to service was evident through his active participation with the Clifton Board of Education, the Boy Scouts of America - Aheka Council Advancement Chairman, Trustee of the ARC of Bergen and Passaic Counties, the New Jersey Eye Bank, and his role as Past President of the Hackensack Lions Club.

An avid fan of the New York Yankees, Nicholas's love for the game was only exceeded by his love for laughter and his optimistic outlook on life. He was known for his selfless nature, often putting the needs of others before his own, and his sense of humor brought joy to all who knew him.

He touched the hearts of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and the enduring power of a positive spirit.

As we bid farewell to Nicholas Gorab, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.
