Nicolas Chichik

Nicolas Chichik, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2025, in Clifton, NJ, at the age of 71. Born on August 4, 1954, in Paraguay, Nicolas was a man whose sense of humor and friendly nature touched the lives of all who knew him.

In 1978, Nicolas immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Clifton. His strong work ethic shone as he established himself as a self-employed roofing and siding contractor in Clifton, NJ. For over 40 years, Nicolas was known for his craft and fairness to all of his clients.

Nicolas's life was a testament to the power of love and family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 47 years, Maria (nee Karpiuk) Chichik, and a loving father to his son, Edward Joseph Chichik and wife Georgina Pinsley, and daughter, Christine Rose Chichik and fiancé Vincent Cavallari. His joy was multiplied with the birth of his grandson, Jacob Edward Jerome.

Though he was predeceased by his brother Basilio, Nicolas's memory will be carried on by his siblings Adolfo, Ana, Alejandro, and Teodoro Chichik, who will forever cherish the moments they shared.

Nicolas found solace and pleasure in freshwater fishing in the lakes and streams of New Jersey, a hobby that provided him with countless hours of good times, comradery, and tranquility. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he was a faithful parishioner of St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Carteret, NJ.

Those who knew Nicolas will remember him as a man who was always ready to lend a helping hand, a friend who greeted everyone with a warm smile, and a generous soul who never hesitated to give of himself. His legacy is one of kindness, hard work, and the love he had for his family and friends.

In remembering Nicolas, we celebrate a life well-lived and a journey marked by the love he gave and the love he received. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

As we honor Nicolas’s memory, we know this is not goodbye. As Nicolas loved to say: Thank you for coming, thank you for going. 

Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by the interment at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton.
