Owen J. O’Rourke, 81, of Clifton passed away peacefully in the loving care of his family on November 23, 2022.
Born in Newark, Mr. O’Rourke was raised in Nutley and had resided in Clifton since 1964. Prior to retiring, he had been employed for many years as a Chemical Operator with Hoffman-LaRoche, formerly located in Nutley. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1959-1963, a faithful parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church in Clifton and was an active member of the U.S. Power Squadrons through which he taught boating classes.
Mr. O’Rourke was predeceased by his beloved and deeply missed wife, Gloria M. (nee Priante), who passed away on August 13, 1995 as well as by a dear sister, Kathleen Jean Fett.
He is survived by his three loving and devoted children: Deborah Ann Martin and her husband, Barry, Owen M. O’Rourke and David J. O’Rourke and his wife, Jennifer Jean O’Rourke; two dear siblings: Patrick Edward O’Rourke and Lauretta Ann Britton; seven cherished grandchildren: Ashley June Sbarra and her husband, Nicholas Louis, Jennifer Lynn Connolly and her husband, Patrick Francis, Jaimie Lee O’Rourke, Nicholas Ryan Martin, Dylan Joseph O’Rourke, Jesse Ryan O’Rourke and Grace Gloria O’Rourke; and two cherished great-granddaughters: Elliana Rose and Olivia Lee Sbarra. The O’Rourke family would also like to give special thanks to Liz Snyder for the six years of loving care.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral Wednesday 9:15 am from the funeral home and 10:00 am at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
