Patrick Peruo, Jr., 85, of Clifton, passed away November 21, 2024. Born July 8, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, Patrick Peruo, Jr. was a man of remarkable intellect, dedication, and service. He graduated from the prestigious Brooklyn Technical High School and later earned a Master’s Degree with Honors in Electrical Engineering from the City College of New York. His academic journey continued at City University of New York, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree and taught part time as a professor.
Patrick’s professional career spanned some of the most innovative companies of his time, including Sperry Rand and Martin Marietta, where he contributed significantly to cutting-edge technological projects. He achieved high-level security clearances and was instrumental in the Trident Software Development Program and the Trident II accuracy and delivery systems; receiving certificates of achievement for both projects. He also played a key role in research aboard the USS Compass Island.
After retiring from engineering, Patrick sought further education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating with honors from the School of Business in 1997. He became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1999, showcasing his commitment to lifelong learning and excellence.
Patrick’s life was deeply rooted in faith, and he developed a strong spiritual center, guided by his love for God. He was an active member of Path of Hope, an organization dedicated to supporting children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Colleen Peruo, Ph.D. His legacy of intelligence, compassion, and spiritual devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. A Mass will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.
