Peter DeBlaise, 99, of Clifton passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 8th, 2025.
Born in Passaic, Mr. DeBlaise was raised in the Clifton-Passaic area and had lived in Clifton for most of his life. Prior to retiring at age ninety-five, he had been a self-employed electrician throughout his career operating as DeBlaise Electric based in Clifton. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II and earning a Bronze Star Medal for “voluntarily boarding a burning and exploding destroyer” and “(assisting) in fighting the raging fires, in searching for the wounded and in removing the survivors to a place of safety.” He was a faithful parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church in Clifton where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #11671. When not working (his favorite pastime and never-ending passion), he enjoyed all types of history.
Mr. DeBlaise was predeceased by his loved and missed wife, Frances (nee Giardelli), who passed away September 1, 2014; by his parents: Amillo and Antoinetti (nee Davadi) DeBlaise; and by five dear siblings: Tony, Frank, Joseph, Rose and Mary.
He is survived by his loving and caring daughter, Debbie McKavanagh and her husband, Edward, of Matawan; two siblings: Charles and Rae; his two loved granddaughters: Kayla Grappone and her husband Kyle and Casey McKavanagh; and by his cherished great-granddaughter Madison.
Visitation will be held at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton on Friday morning from 10:30am-12:00pm with funeral services to then begin at 12:00pm followed by mass at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton at 12:30pm.
