Rafael E. Gil, 93, of Paterson, passed away on May 18, 2025. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Rafael immigrated to the United States in 1979 and settled in Paterson. Before his retirement in 1996, he was employed as a machine operator with Knickerbocker Machine Shop, Inc. for 17 years. Rafael was a faithful parishioner of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Paterson for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Amada Lora; five devoted sons, Antonio Gil (Isabel), Juan Gil (Silvia), Luis Gil (Juana), Jose Gil and Andres Gil (Blasina); nine grandchildren, Stacie and Sally Gil, Betsy, Angie and Tracey Gil, Joanny and Steven Gil and Jazlyn and Jason Gil; four great-grandchildren, Jaiden Gil, Leandro and Janelle Hernandez and Charlotte Fermin; and four brothers, Jose Hermenegildo Gil, Bienvenido Gil, Gilberto Gil and Jose M. Gil.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Cathedral, 381 Grand Street at the corner of Main Street, Paterson, NJ 07505. Please meet at church. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Saddle Brook, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. John the Baptist Cathedral.
