Raymonde (nee Mace) Kavanagh, 76, of Clifton passed away peacefully on Thursday June 12th, 2025 after a hard fought and extremely courageous battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Clichy, France, Raymonde was a teacher in France and came to the United States in 1988, settling in New York City at the time and more recently, had lived in Clifton. Upon her arrival, she was employed as a Teacher and then Director at the Lycée Francais De New York School and then as a French Teacher at the Marymount School of New York, both located in Manhattan, until retirement. Raymonde was an intelligent, well-read woman who had a lifelong passion for learning new things. She was a “good listener” to those in need and always offered up good advice…her dedication, generosity and unwavering spirit will be forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her, loving her and being loved by her. She enjoyed reading and gardening and traveling the world with her beloved husband, Elton.
Mrs. Kavanagh was predeceased by her dearly missed parents, Alfred and Andree (nee Janin) Mace and by one of her brothers, Michele.
She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-nine years, Elton Kavanagh, of Clifton; by her brother Christian Mace of French Polynesia; by her two stepdaughters: Patricia Kavanagh of Colorado and Andrea Griffiths of California; as well as by her dear family friend, Susan Lucas, of Clifton.
Visiting will be held at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton on Monday June 23rd from 8:30am-9:30am with funeral services to then commence at 9:30am and mass to follow at 10:00am at St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, 60 Byrd Avenue, Bloomfield.
