Richard D. Ebenstein, 73, of Waldwick, passed away on November 21, 2022. Born in New York City, Richard was raised in Sunnyside, Queens. As a youth, he moved with his family to Somerset, New Jersey and then lived in Rockaway, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Morris Hills High School and then earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison. Before retiring, he and his brother, owned a family business, Thermo King East, in Carlstadt for over 50 years that was founded by their father, Gus, in 1969.
Richard was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed skeet shooting. He enjoyed spending time at the beach at Wildwood Crest. Richard also enjoyed reading and singing. He was known to those who knew him as the 60 Minute Man.
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Janice M. Lomartire Ebenstein; his son, Jeffrey D. Ebenstein and his brother, Donald Ebenstein and his wife, Donna.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 12:30 pm in the Rotunda at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, (For GPS use: 62 Lakeview Ave., Paterson, NJ). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box P, Manasquan, NJ 08736 (www.cancer.org) or plant a tree in Richard’s memory.
