Roberta Moran Obituary

Roberta Marie (Galik) Moran, wife of Richard Charles Moran, who predeceased her, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 26, 2025 at her home in Essex County.

Roberta and her husband Richard lived and raised their family in Clifton, NJ for decades.   Roberta is survived by her brother, Albert Galik of Houston, TX, her cousin Annette Orlando formerly of Clifton, her sons David Moran (wife Ashley Moran) of Essex County, and Richard Michael “Mike” Moran of Manhattan (husband Jeffrey Gates), and her four wonderful grandchildren, Skyler, Katie, Kyle, and Kasey.

Roberta and Richard were deeply engaged with family and community activities.  They were the first to ‘lend a hand’ to those in need or for a community project.   They cherished their relationships with their sons, extended family, and friends.   Roberta was an exceptional planner and hostess.    She had the elevated organizational skills to effortlessly entertain family and friends at their home in Clifton, organize impromptu gatherings down the shore during the summer, and ensure everyone always felt welcome.   Roberta, Richard and their two sons enjoyed lots of special family time, with hobbies such as sports, skiing, beach time at the Jersey Shore, sailing, and music.

Roberta was born in Passaic, NJ in 1942, and graduated from Pope Pius XII High School (Passaic, NJ) class of 1960.  Roberta loved to travel and was always up for a domestic or international trip.   She graduated from William Paterson University (Paterson State Teachers College) class of 1964, spent a semester studying in Hawaii, and subsequently spent a summer driving around Europe (in an early Volkswagen Beetle) with two of her best friends from Pope Pius.   She enjoyed laughter and the company of caring people.

Roberta was a highly esteemed NJ Public School elementary school teacher; first, for the Wayne, NJ Board of Education and then for the Clifton, NJ Board of Education, after taking a break to raise her two boys.   She taught first, second, and third grade at several schools in Clifton, with her longest and last stop as a second grade teacher at School 12 in the Botany Village section of Clifton.  Roberta was beloved by her students, was very well-known in the Clifton school system, and was a dedicated educator who was very engaged with her young students.

Roberta has touched many people’s lives during her lifetime and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.  The family is welcoming visitors on Thursday January 15, 2026 at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral home 1313 Van Houten Avenue Clifton, NJ from 2PM to 6PM.  There will be a prayer ceremony at 5:30PM at Bizub.  Please reach out to Bizub-Quinlan (https://www.bizubquinlan.com/) for details.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Roberta’s honor to the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton, NJ at www.bgcclifton.org.
