Rose (nee Silvestro) Ferri, 99, of Clifton, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020. Born and raised in Newark, Mrs. Ferri resided in East Orange before moving to Clifton in 1952. Before her retirement, she was employed as a secretary in the Philosophy and Religion Department of Montclair State University. Mrs. Ferri earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Religion in the evenings after work and upon her retirement.
Mrs. Ferri was a faithful parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton where she had been a member of the Rosary Society and the Prime Timers. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and Sunday dinners with the family.
Mrs. Ferri was predeceased by her husband, Louis J. Ferri in 1999 and her sister, Sophie Giacose in 2019.
Survivors include: two daughters, Elisa Ciccarella and her husband, James of Clifton and Nadine Grieco of Florida; her brother, Gus Silvestro and his wife, Tina of Cedar Grove; six grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Grieco and James, Jon, Joel and Jaclyn Ciccarella; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held Monday 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton followed by an 11:30 am funeral service. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN 38105.
