Rozalia Rodica Földes Obituary

Rozalia Rodica (nee Treitli) Földes, 95, of Parsippany, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025. Born in Valea lui Mihai, Romania, Rodi, as she was known to family and friends, was raised in Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania.  Rodi’s elementary and high school education was from a religious community at a convent in Szatmar, Romania.  She then attended an art university in Koloszvar (Cluj) and earned her university degree in sculpting.  Her artistic abilities and beauty of spirit filled every aspect of her life, including gardening and her gourmet traditional Erdelyi cooking and baking! Rodi could also sew anything without a pattern, knit and embroider elaborate sweaters, or create evening gowns, including Csilla’s French-lace wedding gown! Her pyrography, painting, wood-carving, metal-dripping, glass-ornaments’ creation and many other handcrafts were accompanied by her business acumen as Rodi could make ends meet just about from anything :-). Having decided to legally immigrate to the US, via Rome, Italy, Rodi was soon employed at Atlas Sound in Parsippany where she worked full-time until her retirement while simultaneously also working part-time in retail and service. After her retirement came the real work: raising her beloved granddaughters Sylvia and Andrea!

Rodi was a faithful parishioner of St. Stephen R.C. Magyar Church in Passaic since the 1970s.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Augustin Flora Földes in 2019, a month before their 50th anniversary; her parents, Moricz and Rozalia (nee Polyak) Treitli; and four siblings, Maria Serbana, Tiberiu Treitli, Iolanda Andocs and Alexandru Treitli.

Survivors include: her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Csilla Földes and Aurel Berman; two loving granddaughters, Sylvia Erika Földes-Berman and Andrea Nikoletta Berman; her sister, Szidonia Balogh; her brother-in-law John Andocs, and many dear nieces and nephews.
