Sean Robert Cumiford

Sean Cumiford Obituary

Sean Robert Cumiford was born 54 years ago in Vancouver, Canada. He was raised by Joan and Jack Cumiford and the family was complete with the birth of younger sister, Christie.

As a child, Sean discovered books, hockey, films and music. He had a special bond with his grandmother and his uncle Jerry- the man responsible for fostering Sean’s lifelong obsession with music.  He enjoyed life to the fullest and experienced much with his friends and classmates, many of whom he reconnected with as an adult.

As an adult he left the tri-cities of BC Canada and traveled to America where he began his career in sales. From Detroit to Texas, from Boston to Pittsburgh, he moved around and built his reputation as a successful seller of energy and a John Maxwell Team trainer of salespeople in that field, including 11 years at Protocall Communications as their National Manager.

Sean spent his last years in New Jersey where he met his wife, Kristin, on a beautiful night in October of 2016. She was late for their date and he sat at the table by the window and waited for her. Exactly two years later, they returned to that coffee shop, and he proposed outside. Sean married his bride one year to the day after that and the couple enjoyed a life of concerts, travel, adventure and laughter together. He had a special love for Key West, Florida, a place he shared with Kristin, who shared his joy in traveling there.

Sean unexpectedly left this life on Monday, September 18th. He was predeceased by his father, Jack and mother, Joan Cumiford (Lundberg).

He leaves behind his loving wife, Kristin Barbetta, his dear sister Christie Cumiford of Surrey, British Columbia and her children: Emily Golden and her husband Dylan of Victoria, British Columbia, and Cameron Cumiford, of Surrey, British Columbia, his father-in-law, Michael Barbetta and his wife Jeanne, of Woodland Park NJ, sister in law, Stacey Bruce and her husband, Eric of Wayne NJ, numerous friends, colleagues and loved ones, and his pretty, beloved, little canine companion, 14 year old Lexi.

He was loved by many, and will be missed by all who knew him.

To honor Sean’s irreverent humor and unique fashion sense, we invite you to celebrate his life on Sunday, September 24th, 1-4 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton.
