Sean Hughes, 44, long time resident of Clifton, NJ was embraced by a loving God passing away peacefully in his sleep on February 18, 2022.

He is survived by a loving family, his father, John Hughes, brother, William McDonald and his wife Donna, nephew Mitchell, and nieces Crystal and Goddaughter Rachel, Girlfriend Noelle Martello, Irish brother Colm Hamill and countless cousins, legions of dear friends and business associates.   

Sean was born to Joan and John Hughes and Lived in Nutley, NJ until age 5 then moved to Clifton, NJ. He graduated from St. Philip the Apostle Grammar School, DePaul High School and Bloomfield College. Sean was predeceased by his mother Joan and sister Catherine.

After College he joined MWW a prestigious Public Relation Firm and two other firms before joining Coach USA as Vice President of Governmental Affairs. He was philanthropic with his time and resources working with the Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians in such endeavors as the Media Director for the annual Army Tank Pull Competition to aids veterans, Project Children to aid children effected by the Troubles in Northeast Ireland and raising money to support families suffering food insecurity. Hughes was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and Past NJ State President of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. At his passing he was the President of the NJ Bus Association and editor of the Diabetic Food Critic Journal. Sean, an entrepreneur from an early age was both a business and community leader and the recipient of numerous business and fraternal leadership awards for his efforts.

Sean had the heart of a warrior and the kindness and sensibility of a loving and dutiful son which he displayed during his mother’s long illness and most recent disability and recovery of his father. Sean was a major force, funny, and always interesting. He had a great affinity for the poor, the underdog and expressed great personal pride in the charitable mottos of the Ancient of Hibernians and Knights of Columbus.

He traveled extensively in the USA and Europe for business and pleasure, especially enjoying his many trips to Ireland to visit family and friends. He also enjoyed golf, tennis fishing, skiing and especially rooting for his beloved Cowboys.  “till we meet again”

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 11:30 am at St. Philp the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Please meet at church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
