Settimio Bastone, 76, of Clifton, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020. Born in Italy, Mr. Bastone came to the United States in 1968 settling first in Passaic before moving to Clifton in 1973. Before his retirement, he was employed as a dye machine operator. Previously, he was employed in construction as a mason.
He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City to play the slot machines for entertainment. Mr. Bastone was known for his “garden”. Actually, it was more like a “mini-farm”. He grew all kinds of vegetables and was especially proud of his hot peppers. Although, the gardening brought him much joy, it was spending time with family and friends that really made him happiest.
Mr. Bastone was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Antonina (nee Gioia) Bastone; two devoted sons, George Bastone and his wife, Maria and Luigi Bastone and his wife, Jacquelyn; two loving granddaughters, Alexandra and Gianna Bastone; one brother, Franco Bastone and one sister, Emilia Bastone.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Thursday 10:15 am from the funeral home followed by an 11:00 am Mass at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Face masks must be worn in the funeral home and church. Social Distancing required. Only 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home and church at a time. Please be mindful of this restriction to allow others to pay respects to the family.
