Thomas Stanton, III Obituary

Thomas Joseph Stanton, III, known affectionately as Tom to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in Clifton, NJ, at the age of 80. Born on October 1, 1945, in Paterson, NJ, Tom was a lifelong resident of the area, embodying the spirit of the community he loved so dearly.

Tom was a graduate of Paterson Technical High School, where he laid the foundation for a life marked by diligence and reliability. He dedicated many years of service as a Security Guard with the Paterson Board of Education, a role in which he took great pride. His commitment to his work was second only to his devotion to his faith.

In his personal life, Tom was known for his faith-filled heart and his funny nature. He had a knack for making those around him smile, and his sense of humor was a gift he generously shared. Tom also had a passion for cars which was more than just a hobby; it was a way of connecting with others. He could often be found tinkering with his prized 1984 Monte Carlo, which he proudly showcased at local car shows, sharing stories and laughter with fellow enthusiasts.

Tom's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving family. He is survived by his daughter, Lynda Auxter, and her husband, Stephen; his granddaughters, Molly, Abigail, and Caroline Auxter; his sisters, Dorothy Murphy, Carolyn Altieri and her husband Nick, and Dolores Vargas, who fondly remembers her late husband Ovidio. Tom also leaves behind his former wife and friend, Lourde Stanton, who remained an important part of his life. His aunt, Josephine Stanton and sister-in-law, Marion Stanton will miss his visits and the joy they shared. Thomas now shares eternal peace with his parents Dorothy (Blakely) and Thomas J. Stanton, Jr, and  his brother, William Stanton.

Tom's life was a testament to the values of loyalty, faith, and humor.  As we say goodbye to Thomas Joseph Stanton, III, we celebrate the indelible mark he has left on our hearts and the community that was his home. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be treasured forever.
