Thomas E. Van Beveren, Sr., 87, of Bloomfield, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024. Born in Passaic, Mr. Van Beveren was raised in Clifton where he resided for 76 years before moving to Bloomfield 10 years ago. Before his retirement, he was employed as a foreman with Atlantic Coastal Trucking in Carlstadt and Triangle Trucking in Paterson. For the last 17 years, he worked part-time in the produce department at Brookdale Shop-Rite in Bloomfield.
Mr. Van Beveren enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Oakland Rod and Gun Club. He also volunteered at the Evergreen Tree Farm in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Ann (nee James) Van Beveren in 2022; and his siblings, Robert Van Beveren, Gerard Van Beveren, Diane Contreras, Betty Katcock, Joyce Marcinkiewicz, Annette Van Beveren and Lois Van Beveren.
Survivors include: his devoted son, Thomas E. Van Beveren, Jr. and his wife, Sue of Bloomfield; two granddaughters, Jamie Van Beveren (Robert Thompson) and Alexa Lavecchia (Michael); and two sisters, Jane Neal and Marilyn Oakley.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Friday 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by the entombment at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
