Timothy Miller Obituary

Timothy Roland Miller

June 24, 1964 - December 14, 2025

Tim Miller, age 61, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Born in Perth Amboy and raised in Metuchen, NJ, Tim was the oldest of Roland and Audrey (Larson) Miller’s three children. Growing up, he always found ways to make his siblings and cousins laugh. His inventiveness, curiosity, and sense of humor provided entertainment on long road trips to MN to visit his maternal family, as well as long summer days at the lake with his paternal family. Tim was a 1982 graduate of Metuchen High School (Cross Country, National Honor Society) and a 1995 graduate of Cook College, Rutgers University.

During his college years, Tim was well known on Main Street for his customer service as an employee of Metuchen Hardware. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Environmental Science, and relocated to his beloved family summer home in Green Pond, NJ. Tim worked as an environmental scientist for Aquatic Analysts, Inc, and more recently for TIGRIS. He spent his days outside on the water, and used his immense knowledge and kindness to help his clients.

Tim was baptized and raised at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Edison, NJ. He was a talented musician, playing trumpet in a brass group that included his brother and father, then taking up the guitar as an adult. In recent years he divided time between churches, most often choosing to worship at his brother Jeff’s church, First Lutheran in Clifton. His strong faith in God informed his environmental and social justice beliefs, and shaped who he was as a grandson, son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.

Tim was a skilled woodworker, and made beautiful furniture for his home. He developed an interest in history as he explored local mines, canals, and rail trails in north Jersey. He and his son Jake enjoyed hiking, biking, and exploring around the lake together. Tim was also interested in family history and his Scandinavian and German traditions. He enjoyed spending time at the lake alone, and with family and friends, especially hosting the annual Miller family reunion each summer.

Tim was the loving and proud father of Jacob Miller, the devoted son of Audrey and Roland (d.) Miller, and cherished big brother of Jeffrey (Kimberly) Miller and Kristi Miller (Brian Pease). He was a fun and adventurous uncle to Joshua and Aaron Miller and Alison Miller Pease. He loved and was loved by aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
