Vincenza “Gina” (nee Carrubba) LoConte, 94, of Clifton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, January 27, 2023. Born in Mussomeli, Sicily, Italy, Mrs. LoConte came to the United States in May of 1966. She settled in Passaic for five years before moving to Clifton where she has resided since. Before her retirement, Mrs. LoConte was employed as a seamstress with Frank Saltz and Sons in Passaic until their closing. Mrs. LoConte was talented at crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed making sweaters and booties for her family. She loved her family and adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. LoConte was predeceased by her beloved husband, Francesco LoConte on June 1, 2022; and her two brothers, Mario Carrubba and Calogero Carrubba.
Survivors include: two devoted daughters, Francesca LoConte Messina and her husband, Calogero Messina of Sicily and Maria Dokum of Clifton; her son-in-law, Andy Dokum; two grandchildren, Cristina Gasparri and her husband, Nicolas and Joseph Dokum; and three great-grandchildren, Mariella, Gianna and Alessia Gasparri.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:15 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, the family will accept memorial contributions.
