William (Bill) Link, 88, of Clifton, passed away on January 4, 2022 after a brief illness. Born in Clifton, Bill was a lifelong resident. After finishing school, Bill joined the family business, M. Link Oil and Coal Company as a delivery driver and service technician.
Bill enlisted in the Navy in 1953, and trained as an Aviation Electronics Mate/ AE2. His naval career included service aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea, which was part of the U.S. 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean Sea.
Bill returned to Clifton upon completing his Navy service, where he started a family and later became the proprietor of the Master Link Oil Company. He was a craftsman and an avid antique automobile collector. Bill could often be found repairing cars, restoring old boats and cars, or woodworking in his workshop and garages. He was proud of the awards his restored cars and boats won in area shows. Bill was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Early Ford V8 Club.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marjorie; his parents Martin and Julia, brother Frank, and sister Julia. Survivors include his children MaryAnne, William, John, Paul, and Suzanne and their respective spouses, and 8 grandchildren.
A burial service will be held at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson, NJ at 10:30 am on January 10, 2022.
