William Francis Mullins, Jr., of Clifton, passed away on April 23, 2026 at the age of 70.
Born on August 1, 1955, in Jersey City, Bill grew up in Union City and graduated from Emerson High School, where he ran track and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree, reflecting his commitment to education and personal growth. He remained proud of his Jersey roots and had been a resident of Clifton since 1982.
Bill was the beloved husband of Sandra (nee Stine) Mullins of Clifton. He was the loving father of Matthew Mullins and Alexa Mullins, both also of Clifton. He was the son of the late William Francis Mullins, Sr. and the late Ada L. (nee Pellizzari) Mullins, and the dear brother of the late Margaret Ann Mullins Tortoriello. His family was central to his life and he took great pride in the people he loved.
Bill retired after a distinguished thirty-five-year career as a Toll Collector with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority in East Brunswick. He was respected by his coworkers for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and dependable nature. Through his work he was a proud member of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers Local 194 in East Brunswick, where he served early on as Tolls Grievance Chairman before later becoming a Business Agent for the union. Bill was also active in the state serving on numerous central labor councils, including the Vice President of the Passaic County Central Labor Council. Through his union participation, he demonstrated leadership, dedication, and a sincere commitment to helping working people everywhere.
Outside of work, Bill was known as a handy man and one who appreciated 1980s sports and muscle cars, especially Corvettes, and he enjoyed the style, power, and character of those classic vehicles. His practical skills and appreciation for craftsmanship were part of what made him so admired by those who knew him best and Bill will be remembered as a kind and capable man.
Memorial Visitation will be held at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton on Saturday May 2ndfrom 1:00pm-4:30pm with a Memorial Service to then follow at 4:30pm.
